The Cedar Initiative
Saving Texas
We began our journey in Texas with a simple mission: to restore the natural balance of our native hardwood forests and native grasslands. Our initiative started with the strategic mulching of cedar trees, a practice that has proven to be a vital tool in the preservation of our local ecosystems. Forestry Mulching is the best way to quickly physically remove overgrown and invasive species.
About Texas Cedar Shredders
Saving Texas
Texas Cedar Shredders is owned and operated by Stephen Butler. Stephen is a 6th generation Texan who grew up in Southwest Austin. He attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a Forestry degree as a member of the class of 2011. After college he went to work on a tree farm in Northeast Texas, caring for container grown trees to be sold to stores and landscapers. He left the tree farm to perform personal tree care in the Dallas area as a tree health technician. He then started his own tree treatment business in the Fort Worth area. After a few successful years, and a pandemic, he transitioned from his small business and joined a large tree care company in Austin. After several years with the large tree care company and over a decade as an Arborist in the personal tree care business he is now pursuing his dream Shredding Cedars and saving Texas, one Cedar at a time through Forestry Mulching.
